The Candidates Head into the Homestretch

President George W. Bush and Senator John Kerry are nearing the end of the campaign trail. But neither is slowing his pace. Both men crisscrossed the nation last week, stopping in states where polls show voters as almost evenly split between the two candidates.

In one day, Bush visited Iowa, Minnesota and Wisconsin. Kerry spent time in Iowa, Ohio and Pennsylvania. Their running mates, Vice President Dick Cheney and Senator John Edwards, respectively, also traveled the country, giving speeches, shaking hands and kissing babies.

Bush and Kerry continue to discuss health care, education and Iraq. With November 2 just days away, the race is still close. Each candidate hopes to win over enough voters to make the difference on Election Day.
