Happy Birthday, Israel!
Israelis danced in the streets, picnicked in the parks and gathered for parties and parades to mark their nation's 50th anniversary last week. It was a time to honor all the hard work and effort that have made Israel a thriving nation. It was also a time to think about a goal that Israel has not yet achieved: peace with its Arab neighbors. Here fireworks bloom in Jerusalem's night sky. The 1,300-year-old Dome of the Rock, a treasured Muslim religious site.
