Ewing Gets In The Paint

New York Knicks star Patrick Ewing is better known for his fierce slam dunks than his delicate brushstrokes. But Ewing's artistry was at center court this month at the National Museum of American Art in Washington, D.C. On display there was his painting of a shimmering pond surrounded by trees. Ewing, who studied fine arts in college, painted with students from nearby Thompson Elementary School. The painting session celebrated a museum exhibit, "Time Out! Sports in Art," which runs through May 31. "I started painting as a kid," said Ewing, who's working on an art book for kids. "It's something I've been able to enjoy all my life."
