He's A Hot-Lunch Hero

Fifth-grader Justin Walker of Alpharetta, Georgia, made a promise when he ran for student council last year: to get tastier food in the cafeteria. He won! "I was quickly reminded by my peers of my promise," said Justin, 11. With help from other kids and a U.S. Department of Agriculture group called Team Nutrition, he turned the cafeteria into the cool, new Eagle Rock Cafe. At the big kickoff day, chefs from fancy restaurants came to whip up teriyaki chicken, Greek salad, apple strudel and other yummy dishes. The chefs left behind their recipes for the cafeteria cooks to use. Justin and his pals will never eat a slab of school meat loaf again!
