A Second Bombing Trial

The 1995 bombing of a government building in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, was the deadliest terrorist act ever committed in the U.S. Last June, Timothy McVeigh was sentenced to die for this crime, which killed 168 people. Last week in Denver, Colorado, a jury began hearing evidence against Terry Nichols, who is accused of helping McVeigh.

Everyone agrees that Nichols was not in Oklahoma City the day of the bombing. His lawyers say Nichols and McVeigh were just old Army buddies, not partners in crime.

Government lawyer Larry Mackey says Nichols helped plan and build the bomb that "changed the face of American history." If Nichols is found guilty, he could be sentenced to death.
