Poetry? Pass The Popcorn
Robert Pinksy, the nation's new poet laureate, says poems are best when read aloud. He plans to videotape 200 Americans, including the President, reading their favorite poem. Pinsky hopes that kids will experience the project through TV shows and CD-ROMS. He will make the tapes available at the Library of Congress. Pinsky calls American poetry "one of our glories and national treasures."
