Taking On The Teacher
Christopher Friesen, 18, of Hesston, Kansas, is taking his high school class on government very seriously. The teenager, a Republican, decided to run for office--against his teacher! The teacher, John Waltner, a Democrat, has been Hesston's mayor for 12 years. Last week both won enough votes in a primary to face off in the April 1 election. Waltner promised that Friesen's campaign won't affect his grade!
