Top 5 Heaviest Animal Babies
Carmelina Fedele of Italy set a world record back in 1955, when she gave birth to a 22-pound 8-ounce boy. Her son was "the heaviest baby born to a healthy mother," according to The Guinness Book of Records. Think that's big? Not to a mother whale. Here are the heavyweight champions among newborn animals:
1. Whale: 396 (killer whale)-4,400 lbs. (blue whale)
2. Elephant (African and Asian): 200-250 lbs.
3. Belgian Draft Horse: 140-170 lbs.
4. Indian Rhino: 80-165 lbs.
5. Giraffe: 150 lbs.
