Spotlight: Shel Silverstein
Back in 1964, author-illustrator Shel Silverstein gave the world a gift called The Giving Tree. His popularity has been blooming ever since. His books, including A Light in the Attic and Where the Sidewalk Ends, have sold more than 14 million copies worldwide and have been translated into 20 languages. But Silverstein fans have been waiting since 1981 for something new.
Now the shy author is back with a collection of wacky poems and quirky drawings called Falling Up. He has created a parade of rhyming characters, like Allison Beals and her 25 eels, Danny O'Dare the dancin' bear, and a piranha and an iguana in the sauna. Falling Up lands in bookstores this month.
