Spotlight: Patricia Polacco
Television has taken over Triple Creek, Michigan! Books are used as doorstops or for plugging a dam. The citizens spend so much time watching TV that the library is shut down and everyone has forgotten how to read. Can an old librarian pull the plug? To find out, tune in to Aunt Chip and the Great Triple Creek Dam Affair, a new book by award-winning author Patricia Polacco.
Polacco is a gifted illustrator as well as a writer. She will donate part of the book's profits to Reading Is Fundamental, a group that helps kids learn to read, in honor of its 30th anniversary. Says Polacco: "We need to offer children the notion that the imagination is a very safe, wonderful place to be."
