Spotlight: Jessica Novak

Jessica Novak, 17, is still working on a school project she started four years ago. Back then, Jessica learned about an international charity, World Vision. Among other programs, it supplies goats to poor orphans in the war-torn African nation of Rwanda. The goats are a good source of food-milk and cheese-and they bear many kids, which can be sold. Jessica founded the group Kids for Kids to drum up U.S. support for the cause. American kids have so far raised nearly $40,000 to buy more than 1,500 goats! The Virginia resident now heads her local chapter and hopes "to raise enough to buy at least one goat for every household" of orphans in Rwanda.
