A Candidate With Class
Last year Texas high school students dared their civics teacher, Victor Morales, to run for the U.S. Senate. He took them up on it! Morales, 46, drove his pickup truck 62,000 miles on the campaign trail. His kitchen was campaign headquarters, and his wife was treasurer.
To everyone's surprise, this kitchen-table campaign worked. Morales won the Democratic primary. Next fall he'll challenge Senator Phil Gramm for his Senate seat.
