Spotlight: Brody Buster

Even legendary blues musicians listen up when Brody Buster, 11, of Paola, Kansas, plays the harmonica. He and his band have appeared on the Tonight Show and CNN. Guitarist B.B. King calls Brody "one of the greatest blues harmonica players of our time, despite his age!"

African Americans invented the blues in the 1800s. The music has a distinct pattern of flatted notes. Brody, who began playing when he was 7, says his music is a tribute to the artists who invented it. "You don't have to live the blues to play the blues," he says. Brody always carries one of his 15 harmonicas in his backpack. If a blue mood hits after school, he's ready to play.
