Spotlight: Rachel Scdoris
Rachel Scdoris, 15, lets the dogs out every day! Ever since she was a tiny tot, she has worked out with the dog teams in her father's sled-tour company in Bend, Oregon. This week she and her pack of Alaskan Huskies will take on the 500-mile International Rocky Mountain Stage Stop Sled Dog Race in Wyoming. Not only is she the youngest person competing, she is also legally blind. She cannot see more than 20 feet in front of her. "If I have a disability, then who doesn't? We all have something that could prevent us from doing things," she says. Her ultimate goal is to win the toughest race in dog sledding, Alaska's 1,150-mile Iditarod.
