These Books Are the Best
Last week author Richard Peck, won the American Library Association's top honor, a Newbery Medal, for his book A Year Down Yonder. Peck's tale of a teen who lives with her odd granny in the Great Depression of the 1930s is a sequel to his 1998 book A Long Way from Chicago. Illustrator David Small, won the Caldecott Medal, the A.L.A.'s other top honor, for his artwork in So You Want to Be President?
