Spotlight: Michelle Kwan
She comes from sunny California, but she's queen of the ice. Michelle Kwan, 15, soared to first place at the U.S. Figure Skating championships on January 20. She's the youngest women's champ in 32 years!
Michelle helps design her own skating costumes, and she loves math. She started skating at age 5, after watching her brother Ron play hockey. Her sister Karen, 17, also skates, and competed at the championships. "My happiest moment wasn't when I won the gold," says Michelle. "It was when I saw Karen skate so well."
Watch for Michelle in March at the world championships in Canada.
