Spotlight: Muppets

Can the Muppets run their own TV station? Stay tuned. Starting in March, they'll be on the air with a new show called Muppets on Air! The fuzzy friends will run the show at KMUP studios. (Really, it will be on ABC.) Miss Piggy stars in Deep Dish Nine! The Next Generation of...Pigs in Space! See Mister Poodlepants, a dogged new Muppet, in E-I-E-I-O/R--a KMUP show about doctors. Kermit and jazzy Clifford, above, will be the hosts.

Some fans were afraid Kermit would have to retire from show biz after his creator and voice, Muppets inventor Jim Henson, died in 1989. But the new Kermit puppeteer, Steve Whitmire, sounds almost exactly like the original Kermit. Guess you could say he's got a frog in his throat!
