Thumbs Up: It's A Hit!

A totally computer-animated movie sounds cool, but just how good is it? TFK took a few lucky readers to a preview of Toy Story in New York City. Their verdict: a gigantic thumbs up!

"It looked so real," said Victor Gabela, 8. "The little boy in it seemed a lot like me."

"The computer animation is better than people animation," said Daniel Genatowski, 9. "The props looked real; the trucks, the toy box, the rainstorm all looked real."

Our reviewers also loved the story and characters. The gruff Mr. Potato Head was Nat Osborn's favorite: "He was so funny, and his parts kept falling off."

"Bo Peep wasn't what I expected," said Maria Gabela, 12. "I thought she would be sweet and nice. But she just went after Woody! It was funny when she kissed him."

A big chase scene through a busy street was exciting to all the kids (though scary to the youngest viewers). Some said the bad guy, Sid, was a little too vicious. But Sid's toys teach him a lesson. "I liked when the toys plan their revenge," said Dan Genatowski.

"Your toys can't really come to life," said Maria. "I think the moral of the story is that whatever things you love, you should treat them well."

"The best movie I've ever seen!"
