Spotlight: Adam Baratz

Computer whiz Adam Baratz was five when he found his first "bug" in a graphics program. A computer bug is a mistake that stops a computer program from working. Now the 10-year-old fifth-grader has turned his skill into a job.

The Microsoft and Borland computer companies met with Adam and hired him to find bugs in their new programs. Adam "debugs" software on his two IBM computers at home in Newton, Massachusetts. His office is his bedroom!

Adam also writes about new computer programs for the Boston Globe newspaper. Is being a computer columnist all work and no play? No way! "When I get a new game," says Adam, "I play it so much I wear it out!"
