Suspicious Train Wreck
Last Monday a train traveling through the Arizona desert crashed and plunged into a little valley. Eight of the 12 cars of the Sunset Limited train went off the tracks. The Amtrak train carried 268 people on its run from Miami, Florida, to Los Angeles, California. More than 70 people were injured, and one crew member was killed.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the crash. They believe it was an act of sabotage, which means someone broke the tracks on purpose to cause the accident. "We are going to pursue every bit of evidence," said a government official.
It took rescue workers an hour to reach the wreck. By the time they arrived, many of the passengers had already climbed out of the wreckage and were helping one another. "It was amazing," said passenger Lou Ann Zulawaski. "Everyone remained calm and level-headed."
