A Tricky Shuttle Trip
Space flight isn't always smooth sailing. And last week the five astronauts on board the space shuttle Endeavour had their share of bumps.
The mission had been delayed a month by mechanical problems. After lift-off, the astronauts had trouble retrieving one satellite and deploying another.
But Kris Thiessen, 18, from Athens, Alabama, was thrilled with the mission. Some of his experiments on growing protein crystals were performed on board. Thiessen began his research at age 12. He hopes it produces "down-to-earth benefits for all."
