Spotlight: Brandy Norwood
Brandy Norwood, 16, has had some year. Her first album, Brandy, has been at the top of rhythm-and-blues charts for almost a year. She has a new video with Boyz II Men, and the Soul Train Music Awards named her Best New Artist.
"I live for Whitney Houston; I die for Michael Jackson," she says of her idols. "I also admire Janet Jackson, Mariah Carey and Toni Braxton."
Brandy doesn't go to school, but studies with a tutor five days a week. With a new TV show in the works and a second album under way, going to a regular classroom is out of the question!"]"I miss school a lot," she says. "I miss my friends, being late to class, my locker."
After college, Brandy hopes to become a lawyer. She had better do her homework!
