Check Mates
Gary Kasparov, 32, of Russia has been king of the chessboards for 10 years. Now Viswanathan Anand, 25, of India wants to put him in check. The players faced off at the world chess championship on top of the World Trade Center in New York City last week. They will play a best-of-20-games series. It's the first world championship in chess held entirely in the U.S. since 1907. How does the pressure feel? "It's not exactly rock and roll," said Anand.
