Runyan Runs for It

Legally blind Olympic runner Marla Runyan set her sights on breaking a national record. Last week she did it! Running on an indoor track in New York City, Runyan completed the women's 5,000-meter race (a little more than 3 miles) in 15 minutes, 7.3 seconds. Runyan has run this race only twice. She clocked in with the fastest indoor time ever. About 2,000 fans cheered her toward her record-breaking finish. Said Runyan: "Even though I was hurting, I knew I could get through because of the crowd."
