Baseball's Drug Problem

Is Major League Baseball ready to crack down on steroid use? Reports surfaced recently that some of baseball's top players may have used the illegal drugs. Steroids and other illegal substances are used to increase strength. But the drugs can be dangerous to users' health.

The league has promised to set stricter rules. "I will leave no stone unturned in accomplishing our goal of zero tolerance by the start of spring training," vowed Major League Baseball commissioner Bud Selig.

Baseball was forced to confront the drug scandal after the San Francisco Chronicle published secret grand-jury testimony two weeks ago. New York Yankees slugger Jason Giambi reportedly admitted to the jury that he had used steroids.
