How low can Europe's temperatures go? Frigid air and wild winter weather swept across much of the continent last week. People in France, Germany and many other countries were feeling the chill.
Cold temperatures and heavy snowfall set records. On March 2, the temperature in Stuttgart, Germany, dipped to 5°F, one of the coldest days on record for the month. The storms have killed at least six people.
Travel ground to a halt in many countries. Snowstorms cut off villages in Greece and triggered avalanches in parts of Albania and Austria. In southern Spain and Italy, crops were destroyed.
The snowfall was a welcome interruption for some Europeans: Kids took advantage of school closings to play in the snow.
