High School Hero

Paul Gordon, 19, did something surprising last year: he passed up a college scholarship to stay in high school, where he felt he could better help teens turn away from violence. The Washington resident met with school and government officials to discuss solutions to youth violence. He also made Silhouettes of Time, a film about a school shooting. It will air on HBO this fall.

Paul travels to schools to urge kids to do good deeds - like those he featured in his new book, There’s Hope for America’s Youth. Says Paul: "There’s no greater gift in the world than the joy of giving."
