Members of Iraq's Parliament have been working hard to write a constitution. The draft was due on August 15. But by the end of last week, officials were still struggling to resolve key differences.
There are three groups who must agree: Sunni Muslims, Shiite Muslims and Kurds. Most Iraqis are Shiites. Shiite and Kurdish officials had approved one draft. But the Sunnis objected to some of its ideas. So Shiite leaders made a few changes that are important to the Sunnis, but that may not be enough.
Iraqis are set to vote on the constitution by October 15. The vote could go forward without Sunni approval, but Iraqi leaders say they hope to reach an agreement.
