News Maker: Tom DeLay

Tom DeLay, a Republican congressman from Texas, stepped down from his post as House majority leader last week. The majority leader works to get members of his or her political party to vote the same way on legislation.

DeLay, 58, is accused of trying to use money donated by corporations for political purposes in an illegal way. "I am innocent," DeLay said. "And I will prove it."

Roy Blunt of Missouri took over as majority leader until the court case is finished.
