Spotlight on Service

The TIME For Kids December Spotlight on Service volunteer, Nicholas Giordano, 12, is tuning up for a good cause. Last fall, the classical guitarist from Oakland, New Jersey, organized and performed a solo charity concert called "Strings from the Heart." The event benefited the Tomorrows Children's Fund, a group that helps kids who are living with cancer. The nearly $6,000 raised was used to buy new instruments for the fund's music therapy program. Nicholas told TFK that the day he delivered the equipment to the hospital was one of the best of his life. "The kids' faces just lit up," he recalled.

Nicholas plans to brighten even more lives with his music. He's preparing another show for next year, and hopes to raise $10,000. "I think we can do it," he said.
