The Concorde Flies Again!

Boom! That's the sound a plane makes when it breaks the sound barrier at about 750 miles per hour. On November 7, Concorde jets were making that sound again. For the first time in more than 15 months, the world's fastest passenger jets were back in business. The planes had been grounded after a deadly crash in France on July 25, 2000.

The Concorde is the only commercial jet that flies faster than the speed of sound. Both Air France and British Airways fly the supersonic jets.

The Concorde travels at around twice the speed of sound. It crosses the Atlantic Ocean in under four hours-about half the time it takes ordinary jets. But the cost of a round-trip ticket is sky high: almost $10,000!
