Q: How did you get turned on to the music you sing on your new album?
A Most of the songs were out before I was born. But I thought, I have a duty to know this stuff. So I picked up some greatest-hits CDs. I [knew] I wanted to do covers on my new album. I thought about how much fun it would be to record this music, because I loved it so much.
Q: Have you talked to any of the artists whose songs you covered?
A: Elton John gave me a hug and said, "I love 'Mona Lisas.'" [I was] just blown away. I couldn't get that comment out of my head. I was most nervous for [the artists] to hear the music, before any critic or fan.
Q: What's your boyfriend, tennis player Andy Roddick, like?
A: He's good at everything: board games, debates, bowling. It's my goal in life to find something he can't dominate.
Q: How about singing?
A: Yeah, I guess I've got that covered.
