When Will Vinson was 9, he began a can-recycling crusade in his hometown of Gainesville, Florida. It wasn't easy. He had to convince his city's recycling company to donate can crushers. He persuaded a supermarket to let him use its shopping carts to collect cans. And some kids threw junk into the recycling bins he placed at school. But slowly, Will won support. "I knew that if I did it, the other kids would do it too," says Will, now 12.
Will's team raised $100 for a preschool program and made even more the next year. Florida's education commissioner named Will a top youth volunteer. Where there's Will, there's a way!
