But for now Prince William, 18, is in the South American countryside sleeping in a tent he pitched himself. The son of Prince Charles and Princess Diana is taking a year off to travel and work as a volunteer before starting college in Scotland next fall. He’s roughing it on a farm in Chile, where he is helping build a home for elderly people and a hall for the volunteer fire department. No one’s waiting on him now! Says Patricia Pavez, organizer of the expedition: "He even has to cook for himself."
