Even as kids, George W. Bush and John Kerry had different experiences. Bush spent his childhood in Midland, Texas, a small, close-knit community. Kerry's family moved every few years. He lived in Massachusetts, Germany, Switzerland and Washington, D.C.
As a kid, Bush preferred to be outdoors and to play baseball. Kerry enjoyed reading. Both Bush and Kerry attended boarding schools on the East Coast and went on to Yale University. Bush developed his gift for making friends. He rallied crowds as a cheerleader. Kerry won friends as a star hockey and soccer player.
