Struck By Titanic Fever

The world's most famous sunken ship, the Titanic, will probably remain at the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean forever. But that hasn't stopped a tidal wave of interest in the doomed ship, mostly because of the movie Titanic, starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet.

Last week, a collector paid $123,500 for a set of 34 urgent messages sent by the Titanic's crew after the ship hit an iceberg on April 14, 1912. There were not enough lifeboats, and more than 1,500 passengers died.

U.S. movie lovers have sunk nearly $400 million into Titanic tickets. Now it's the country's third highest moneymaking film ever. The film could soon sail past Star Wars and E.T. to take the Number 1 spot.

Aimee Wilson, 14, of Jacksonville, Florida, is helping Titanic go for the record. She has seen the movie nine times, and plans to buy one more ticket. "But that's it," she says. "My mom says 10 is my limit."
