Grab Your Binoculars!

The National Audubon Society is planning a big roll call of birds, and they want you to help take attendance!

During the weekend of February 20-22, eagle-eyed bird watchers across the country can help scientists count this year's bird populations. How? By keeping track of the kinds of birds that land in your backyard or neighborhood. Then, using a computer at your school, home or library, you can enter your count online. A special birdsource.cornell.edu shows pictures of birds to help you identify the ones you see.

The Great Backyard Bird Count is the first time people across the country have been invited to help track birds' winter migration. Scientists are particularly interested in this year's count so they can tell whether migration patterns were affected by the unusually warm winter. Happy counting!
