Using the powerful Hubble telescope, scientists in California have spotted what may be the brightest star in the Milky Way, our home galaxy. The nighttime sparkler is named Pistol Star for the gun-shaped cloud that surrounds it. Scientists think the blazing Pistol Star releases 10 million times as much heat and light as the sun.
Despite its brilliance, you would have a hard time wishing on this star: space dust between Earth and the Pistol Star blocks our view.
