A Mythical City Rises From The Beach

Sand sculptor Gerry Kirk and more than 80 other artists built the sand castle of his dreams: a six-story-tall Lost City of Atlantis, in San Diego, California. According to an ancient Greek tale, Atlantis was a great city that crumbled into the Atlantic Ocean. Perhaps it was the towering figure of Poseidon, god of the sea, that kept the castle safe from wind and waves until the Guinness Book of World Records judged it to be the largest sand structure ever. But the artists had sprayed it with Elmer's glue, just in case.
