Chuck Jones, 83, has been creating cartoons for more than 60 years. As one of the five original Looney Tunes animators, he helped bring Porky Pig, Daffy Duck, Bugs Bunny and Elmer Fudd to the screen. He personally created Road Runner and Wile E. Coyote. And next week he will pick up an honorary Academy Award.
"I deeply appreciate receiving it," Jones says, adding that his Looney Tunes teammates deserve an award too. "I'm the only one left, and I will proudly accept the award for all of us."
And Bugs? Still no trophy for him, but Jones' fellow animators recently named the 1957 Bugs Bunny short film What's Opera, Doc? the best cartoon ever made.
