What kind of museum holds a seven-hour rock concert on its opening day? The Rock-and-Roll Hall of Fame museum in Cleveland, Ohio, of course. On Saturday, September 2, more than 57,000 people "rocked in" the new museum, a huge glass-and-metal pyramid designed by architect I.M. Pei.
The museum's collection includes mementos from more than 40 years of rock history. Among them: one of Elvis' leather outfits, a report card (and not a very good one) from Beatle John Lennon, Michael Jackson's first glittering glove and Queen Latifah's high school yearbook.
But don't look for Latifah's or any other rap star's name in the Hall of Fame. Not yet, anyway. To be honored there, a musician must have been in the business at least 25 years.
