Teacher Board Member — Vianca Smith
Vianca Smith has been teaching kindergarten in the Washington, D.C. Public Charter School System for seven years and currently teaches at the Dorothy I. Height Community Academy Public Charter School (CAPCS-Rand Campus). She has a passion for literacy and was chosen to pilot the Core Knowledge Foundations reading program at her school at the kindergarten level. While at CAPCS, she was also chosen to serve on the committee for curriculum and instruction which involved restructuring the school's academic standards and creating curriculum maps that teachers use for daily instruction. Vianca is a graduate of Virginia State University and will soon pursue a Masters of Arts in Teaching from Trinity University in Washington, D.C.
