Pinnacles Desert, Nambung National Park, Cervantes Some people say that when they're in the Pinnacles Desert, they feel like they're on the moon. That feeling comes from the oddly shaped, giant limestone pillars that spot the yellow desert sands. The limestone was formed hundreds of thousands of years ago when the area was rich in marine life. Over time, they were shaped by layers of minerals, plant roots and water erosion. (GETTY IMAGES) |
