Pearl Harbor Pearl Harbor gained a special place in the hearts and minds of Americans on December 7, 1941. In the words of President Franklin D. Roosevelt, it is a date that "will live in infamy." On that day, Japan attacked U.S. navy ships in the harbor and brought the U.S. into World War II. The U.S.S. Arizona Memorial pays tribute to the 2,388 people who died in the attack. (AP) |
