Hawaii Volcanoes National Park
Created in 1916, Hawaii Volcanoes National Park is made up of 333,000 acres on the island of Hawaii. The park is home to two famous volcanoes: Mauna Loa is the world's biggest volcano and Mount Kilauea is the world's most active volcano. In 2004, 1,306,227 people visited the Park to see the beautiful lava streams that pour from Kilauea every day. The constant eruption of magma and volcanic ash continues to add new land to Hawaii and make it a fertile place for diverse plants and wildlife. (DAVID JORDAN—AP)
