The Corn Islands
One of the Caribbean's forgotten tropical paradises, the two Corn Islands—Big Corn and Little Corn—are filled with exotic fruit tress, native palms and white sand beaches. In the 17th century, the Islands were a haven for pirates and buccaneers. Untold numbers of shipwrecks and treasures still lay scattered along both islands' shores. Today, the local Islanders make their living from harvesting lobster and fish from the offshore fishing banks. (JANE SWEENEY—GETTY IMAGES)
