Kruger National Park Established in 1898, Kruger National Park is Africa's oldest wildlife sanctuary. It is also one of the largest, stretching across 6.2 million acres. That's bigger than the state of New Jersey! The park is home to more than 500 bird and 147 mammal species, including lions, leopards, rhinos, elephants, and buffalo. Cheetahs, wild dogs, hyenas, zebras, giraffes, hippos, crocodiles, warthogs, and a large number of antelope also roam Kruger's open plains and waterways. (WARREN LITTLEGETTY IMAGES) |
