South of Kampala, Entebbe was the original capital of Uganda. Today, it is a relaxed, pleasant city, home to many historic buildings and a famous fruit and vegetable market. Entebbe is also home to the 70-acre National Botanical Gardens, located on Lake Victoria and laid out in 1898. The Gardens includes the National Banana Research Project, which is shown here.
