All in a Word

Dictionary.com chooses its Word of the Year

December 07, 2012

What word best describes 2012? Dictionary.com chose bluster as its Word of the Year. Bluster can be used in several ways. One meaning of the word is "to roar and be noisy," like the wind. Another meaning is "to speak in loud, empty threats." The Dictionary.com team says the word fits perfectly with the events of 2012. Bluster could be used to describe the political elections as well as this year's extreme weather.
