What’s the basic story line?
In this third book of the Lemonade War Series, siblings Jessie and Evan, together with their mother, visit their grandmother for Christmas vacation. Their grandmother’s town has a tradition of ringing a bell to welcome the New Year. But this year, there is a problem: The bell is missing! Jessie decides to take matters into her own hands. With the help of her new friend, Maxwell, Jessie goes looking for the bell. The search turns up a lot of suspects and interesting characters. Does Jessie find the bell and save the day? You’ll have to read the book to find out.
Are the characters believable?
The characters are very believable. I could easily picture Jessie, Evan, their friends, their mother and even their grandmother as real people I might meet any day.
On a scale of 1 to 10 (10 being best), how would you rate this book?
I would rate this book an 8. The book held my interest and would be a great read for kids in fourth and fifth grades. I also liked how the author included some more serious issues that readers might relate to. For example, Jessie and Evan’s grandmother is losing her memory. I loved the character Jessie. She reminded me of my younger self! She is funny, courageous and clever.
